It's totally fun to play tourist in S.F. It is actually refreshing from the day to day stuff we usually see. I also highly recommend free neighborhood walking tours done by volunteers. Mostly for S.F. residents, but it's a great way to learn the history and character of neighborhoods in detail. Let me know if you'd like info on that.

I agree with that, when you live somewhere you tend to skip the tourist places. A lot of Parisian have never been to the Eiffel tower. Its a shame :)

Yep. I've never been to Alcatraz. I keep waiting for visitors but when asked to join them, the reservations are too long so I still haven't made it.
