I should clean my feed list or spend more time reading them, but yes, I'm still using Vienna, (since this note). Not much activity on this open source project these days, is it dead ? Should I switch to something else ?

Two years ago, I blogged about Le Tour de France, and l'Alpe d'Huez. Since then, every year I know which day is this stage just by looking at my blog stats :-)

I just watched this video on Gizmodo. It makes me remember the hours and hours, I spent playing with Legos. I remember I had the big starship at 5, and the castle, and the fireman car, and ....

Thanks to Joi Ito, I just learnt that FF3 now supports Color Profiles, very interesting reading, and you should also follow the links in the Joi's post, especially the comments on flickr .

I made a test with one of my photo:

This is correct, the one in the middle looks desaturated.

Sur Dedibox depuis plus d'un an, mais avec des experiences plutôt mauvaises, j'ai profité de la nouvelle offre Kimsufi d'OVH pour switcher.

Ma Dedibox avait tendance à freezer sans raison, et la seule réponse du support a été "changer de dedibox", ce que j'ai fait, espérant même avoir le droit aux nouvelles Dedibox (Celeron), mais non, on m'a refiler une v1 à processeur Via, priorité aux nouveaux clients sans doute.

Me voilà donc sur la nouvelle offre Kimsufi d'OVH. Les premières impressions sont bonnes. Niveau performances du serveur, passer d'un Via à un Celeron, ça n'a rien à voir. Le réseau semble aussi bien meilleur, bon ping depuis Paris, bon ping depuis San Francisco.

Un point négatif quand même, le kernel OVH installé en standard est monolythique (pas de modules) et s'intègre mal avec la distrib, notament quand on veut installer des packages qui requièrent des modules particuliers. L'idéal serait un kernel OVH modulaire et packagé pour chaque distrib. Heureusement on peut tenter sans risque d'installer un autre noyau, en cas d'erreur, il y a toujours net-boot.

Après une bonne grosse fondue Savoyarde entre amis (dans un petit resto, je recommande), petite séance apprentissage/bidouillage des réglages photo de nuit.

Mes réglages de débutant donc:

• un mini-trépied
• ISO 100
• balance des blancs auto
  
• stabilisateur désactivé
• mode priorité ouverture
• ouverture plutôt faible entre 6 et 8

Ce qui m'a donné des temps de pose entre 5 et 8 secondes.

Je me demandais au début de la semaine quel opérateur oserait le premier oublier les SMS et entrer dans le monde internet. Réponse: SFR ! data plan illimité pour 30 euros ? Si c'est confirmé, Orange aura bien du mal à sortir l'iPhone sans forfait illimité.

Apparement, selon TechCrunch, Orange qui sera l'operateur exclusif pour l'iPhone en France, ne proposera pas de forfait data illimité, j'espérais qu'Apple réussirait à secouer le marché français, à enfin reléguer les SMS au rang d'antiquité, et bien non ! Qui sera le premier à oser se passer des revenus du SMS ? Déçu !

I'm still looking for the perfect tool to manage my ToDo lists. I tried a lot of different things: wiki, spreadsheet, online web2.0 apps, emails, ..., I always came back to my plain text file. With the time, I added some Vim shortcuts to make the editing easier. This is not perfect, I know it's possible to do better things with Vim. Vim experts, comments are welcome :-)

Here is my tip:

I keep a list of tasks formatted like this (one task per line) :

priority - cat1 - cat2 - task description

and use the following mapping:

map <F1> 5<C-X>
map <F2> 5<C-A>
map <F3> :.s/^\d\+/99 - _done/<CR>:noh<CR>
map <F4> :%!sort -b -n -k 1<CR>
map <F5> :%!sort -b -f -k 2<CR>

F1 and F2 decreases and increases the priority number by 5 (you need to have the cursor on the number)

F4 sorts the list by priority

F5 sorts the list by the first category

If you have finished a task, you can delete the line, or hit F3 that set the priority to 99 and the first category to _done (these tasks will always be listed at the end of the list)

I read on Engadget today that the iMac will get a new keyboard based on the current Macbook keyboards.

Bad, bad idea Apple ! At least in my experience.

In the last 3 months, I broke 4 keys, and the case is also cracked in some places. The plastic used for the MacBook is just a very poor quality. And this is a known defect.

I need to get my entire keyboard changed, but the Apple store SF needs 48 hours to change it, and a French Mac retailer asked me two weeks !

On Unix and OSX, Ctrl-e put the cursor at the end of the line.

On MediaWiki Ctrl-e loads the "edit" page even when you are already on it. The result is that all your changes are lost !

You can imagine why I'm writing this post, Yes, I hit Ctrl-e very often :-)

I'm still working to improve my blog after my upgrade to MT4. I just reworked my feeds to use the atom threading extensions. I'd like to see more aggregators supporting this. At least you can enjoy the main comment feed directly.

I arrived late on last Saturday night after 26 hours of transport (metro, bus, plane, bus, plane again, and taxi). Yesterday, I spent most of the day sleeping. I also did a walk in the city, the same I did exactly two years ago, but this time with photos.
